Reusable race timing · Backed by parkrun
Chip timing for every start line.
Tempus Chip makes reusable timing chips for $2.50 each, timing software included. That's about a tenth of the cost of today's chips, so community 5Ks, school meets and charity runs can give every runner an accurate chip time.

Timing shouldn't cost more than the medals.
Most small races skip chip timing because the chips and the service are priced for big-city marathons. We built a chip that's cheap to make and comes back after every race.
Relative cost per chip. No separate software fee, and reuse brings the per-race cost down further.
Three steps, start to finish.
No new habits for runners. Chips go out with bibs and come back at the finish.
Hand out chips
Each runner gets a chip paired to their bib number. It clips to a shoe or the bib.
Cross the mat
The finish mat reads each chip as it passes and records the time automatically.
Collect and reuse
Volunteers collect chips past the line. Results are ready, and the chips are ready for the next event.
Built for local races.
If your results are on a clipboard today, you're who we built this for.
Run clubs
Weekly runs and club championships with real chip times instead of a stopwatch and a pencil.
Community races
Charity 5Ks and neighbourhood fun runs that want proper results without a big timing bill.
Schools
Cross-country and track meets where accurate placings matter and budgets are tight.
Small team, one goal.
Tempus Chip is a four-person team of runners and engineers based in Toronto. We're backed by parkrun and funded to bring affordable chip timing to the races that need it most.
Every community race deserves an accurate result.
